The Cessna 310 was the first twin-engine aircraft design from Cessna to enter production after World War II. The 310 was also common charter aircraft for the many air taxi firms that sprang up in the general aviation boom that followed WWII. The advantages over its contemporaries, such as the Piper Aztec, were its speed, operating costs and after market modifications such as the Robertson STOL kits which made it popular worldwide for its flying characteristics. It could access short fields while at the same time carrying a large useful load of 2000 lbs. or more at high speeds for a twin engine piston aircraft. This highly detailed model is constructed of premium woods, high-quality pre-painted fiberglass, and genuine MonoKote covering. Fiberglass construction captures every graceful line of the full size Cessna's fuselage. The tail hatch offers easy access to the model's internally concealed elevator and rudder controls. Impressively detailed, with cockpit interior, aluminum spinners, concealed linkages, preinstalled lighting system, and a retract option. The included cockpit interior with pilot figure hides the internal structure and radio gear. Scale realism is further enhanced with preinstalled cockpit windows. Fixed landing gear is included with the Cessna 310. For even greater realism you can also install optional scale Robart retracts, which plug into the same mounts that the fixed gear use. Top Flite has taken maximum advantage of the Cessna 310's large, IMAA-legal dimensions to include an extraordinary amount of realistic details.
The Cessna 310 first flew on January 3, 1953 with deliveries starting in late 1954. The sleek modern lines of the new twin were backed up by innovative features such as engine exhaust thrust augmenter tubes and the storage of all fuel in tip tanks in early models.
