The Messerschmitt Bf-109 was a German World War II fighter aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt in the early 1930s. It was one of the first true modern fighters of the era, including such features as an all-metal monocoque construction, a closed canopy, and retractable landing gear. The Bf-109 was produced in greater quantities than any other fighter aircraft in history, with a wartime production (September 1939 to May 1945) of 30,573 units. Bf-109 production totaled 47% of all German aircraft production, and accounted for 57% of all German fighter types produced. From the many variations produced, Kyosho has chosen the The first really satisfactory version "E" for this product series. The lightweight balsa construction is more than 90% pre-assembled, leaving only a few small steps for completion. The characteristic coloring has been recreated with the highly-detailed printed color film, expertly pre-covered for stunning realism. With addition of pre-installed retractable landing gear and molded wheel bays the original design have been recreate to the details. The 40-Size SQS (Super Quality Series) scale model provides wide flight capabilities including dynamic stunt capability in the hands of expert fliers.

A technological marvel when it first flew in 1935, the Bf-109 served on all fronts through the entire war, and was produced in great quantity even as it was becoming increasingly obsolescent relative to Allied fighters.
