The AMX International "Ghibli" is a ground-attack aircraft for battlefield interdiction, close air support and reconnaissance missions. It is built by the AMX International Italian-Brazilian joint venture, and is designated the A-1 in the Brazilian Air Force. The AMX is capable of operating at high subsonic speed and low altitude, by day or night. Pre-painted fuselage, wings, and tail surfaces of this model are pre-molded and fully finished. This closed-cell foam material delivers the benefits of costly composite construction at a fraction of the cost. It delivers the structural strength and rigidity of traditional structures without building, and also offers a smooth, paintable surface. Assembly takes only a couple of hours. Glue the wings and tail parts onto the fuselage and install your radio system, even Deans connectors are pre-soldered. The airplane includes 4 servos, 65mm ducted fan unit with outrunner brushless motor, 25A ESC, 11.1V 1300mAh Li-poly battery pack, assorted hardware and instruction manual. The speed range is moderate with large envelop of manners. Difficult to stall, the jet will slow to a crawl and still maintain full control. Great to land, the approach is easy to control and smooth landings are easy.

The first prototype flew on May 15 1984. Although it was lost on its fifth flight, the test program progressed reasonably smoothly otherwise. Production started by mid-1986, with the first examples delivered to the Italian and Brazilian air forces in 1989. Since then, some 200 AMXs have been built.
