The British were leaders in aircraft design through the WWII, but suffered a slow decline in their aerospace and defense capabilities after the war due to economic constraints and political indifference. In recent decades, British aerospace and defense manufacture has revived, aggressively exporting military aircraft and advanced weaponry. One of their biggest successes is the
British Aerospace (BAE) "Hawk", a trainer and light combat aircraft that has been adopted by many of the world's armed services, including the US Navy. E-Flite's BAE Hawk 70EDF ARF is a sport scale version of the British trainer. The Hawk boasts the rare and very visible Central Flying School air show trim scheme from 1987 in red, white and blue. This exciting model was designed around DeltaV 15/70 (70mm) EDF unit and matched E-Flite BL15 EDF brushless motor. Pilots can use a 3-cell battery pack or utilize a 4-cell battery pack for increased vertical performance. The built-in fan mounts make installing the fan easy - just drop in the fan unit and tighten four screws. The removable front hatch also allows easy access to the radio equipment and battery. The entire trim scheme is pre-painted, pre-trimmed, the high quality balsa/ply wings and stabilizers are covered in UltraCote and all the decals have already been applied. The speed range is moderate with large envelop of aerobatic maneuvers. Difficult to stall, the jet will slow to a crawl and still maintain full control. Great to land, the approach is easy to control and smooth landings are easy.
The BAE Systems Hawk is a British single engine, advanced jet trainer aircraft. It first flew in 1974 as the Hawker Siddeley Hawk. The Hawk is used by the Royal Air Force, and other air forces, as either a trainer or a low-cost combat aircraft. The Hawk is still in production with over 900 Hawks sold to 18 customers around the world!!
