Wingspan: 98.5" (2500mm) Length: 51.5" (1310mm) Weight: 41-49 oz. (1170-1400g) Channels: 4,6 Good: AXi 2820/14, 14x8 folding Better: AXi 46/760, 15x8 folding 2700 3S 40mm spinner One of the most impressive European made sailplanes that we have ever seen, the Avia 2.5E flies as good as it looks. Gentle, smooth, and very long flights are the standards for this beauty. The careful use of composites with competition balsa, creates a good light structure that will hold its shape for a long time. The synergy of low weight and strong structure is very unusual in a production sailplane and can only be achieved with careful attention to design and construction. The entire model is constructed using free-flight techniques. Top Model uses the latest construction techniques such as CNC milling and laser cutting. The wings as well as V-tail are all balsa built-up with Carbon Fiber main spare and leading edge. The fuselage is gel-coated fiberglass with white finish. Whole model is covered with Ultracote. All control surfaces are hinged with adhesive tape. This fully built sailplane needs only basic assembly and motor/radio installation. The two piece wing and V-tail are each easily removable for transport and storage. Each part is carefully hand-crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Value is simply incredible. Great starter electric sailplane with easy building and smooth flights.Special Features:- Control Surfaces: Ailerons, Flaps and V-tail - Tight covering, with all seams hand-sealed - Create your own color scheme, sold as ARC version (Almost Ready to Cover) - Elegant gel-coated white fiberglass fuselage - Two-pieces wing with ailerons and oversized flaps - Ready-built Balsa/Carbon Fiber 2-piece wing design - Transparent Ultracote covered wings and tail parts - Includes all necessary hardware - Virtually perfect, extremely clean and well made More information (links):* Building Instructions (.pdf)* Building Pictures and Details* Tape Hinges Installation Airfoil Wing area Wing loading Empty weight

My first electric after years of winching. Prompt and safe delivery got things off to a good start. Assembly was easy and with recommended control throws etc flew perfectly, easy to fly with better than expected climb and glide performance. Tried 3.5 MVVS rcommended by Esprit but in my opinion was too nose heavy and I struggled to get CG far enough back, changed to MVVS 2.5/1120 launches great and reduces all up weight. Wing tips have bowed trailing edge to achieve washout, great idea that really works. Really good value for money

I have had my Avia dialed-in now for several weeks and it is simply the best glider I've ever had. I have the CG at the aft-most setting recommended by Topmodel - 75mm, and it thermals great even in the lightest of lift but still handles exceptionally well. Even though the MH32 airfoil allows the plane to penetrate in windy conditions, I can still float the plane in light air. I think this would be a great plane for someone who has been flying something like a Radian and is looking for a higher performance glider that has gentle and predictable flying characteristics. Of course,it's a big step-up in complexity when you've been flying a rudder-elevator ship but the Avia build and setup is very straight-forward and it is a great introduction to the superb advantages of flaps and ailerons on a thermal ship.

Thermals great, handles like a smaller plane

I was looking for a plane that would be big enough to thermal well and be easily visible at altitude, but also be able to work low level lift. The Avia proved on the first flight that I made the right choice! The light wing loading (8.4 oz/sq ft) allowed me to turn tightly in lift at 20ft without the plane falling off on a wingtip. It handles more like my smaller gliders - very nimble. My setup is a MVVS 15 2.5/1120, 11x6, Jeti Spin 33, Hyperion 3S 1900mAh 45C lipo. AUW is about 41 oz. It goes vertical to about 400ft in less than 10 seconds! I was very pleased with how straight forward and easy the build was. It went together much quicker than I expected. I love the way the MH32 airfoil performs and perhaps best of all, this plane just looks great floating overhead with the colorful(red/yellow), transparent wings and V-tail!
